Bhopal, Feb 29 (UNI) More than two years after assuming office, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today laid on the table of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly details of the assets possessed by him.
Mr Chouhan made an announcement in this regard even as Leader of the opposition Jamuna Devi was on her feet to speak on the motion of thanks on the Governor's address to the assembly.
The Chief Minister was probably prompted by former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's charge yesterday that the BJP government lacked transparency and said the BJP ministers were not following the tradition set during the previous Congress regime to lay details of the property owned by all ministers on the table of the Assembly.
Mr Chouhan attracted the opposition ire following the dumper scandal in which the Chief Minister's wife had got registered four dumpers giving a 'wrong address' and later hiring it out to Rewa-based J P Cement.
When contacted the state government officials declined to provide copies of the Chief Minister's statement of assets saying it may be available with the Assembly library.
