CBI remand of Punjab Police officers extended by another day

Patiala, Feb 29 (UNI) The CBI Court today extended the CBI remand of the two senior police officers arrested in connection with the sensational Moga sex scandal case by another day.

The two officers Davinder Singh Garcha, an IPS officer currently posted as SP, Security wing at the state headquarters in Chandigarh and Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, who is posted as SP, HQ, Ropar were presented by the CBI before Special Judge H S Madaan here after the expiry of their two day CBI remand.

The Court after hearing the arguments of the CBI and defence counsels extended the remand for another day. The two officers were arrested at Chandigarh on February 26.

Garcha was SSP of Moga while Sandhu was SP, HQ, Moga during the racket involving call girls, which came to light in April last year after following arrests of two women under the Immoral Trafficking Act.

The racket involved several prominent people including politicians, businessmen and journalists who were allegedly engaged in "extortion" after trapping unsuspecting people.
