New Delhi, Feb 29 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidamabaram today announced an increase in the budgetary allocation for the salaries of the Council of Ministers and the SPG to Rs 382.79 crore as against the revised estimate of Rs 316 crore in the previous year.
A large share of the allocation went to the Council of Ministers, which accounted for Rs 210.11 crore.
The allocation was also substantially higher for the Special Protection Group at Rs 170.79 crore as against the revised estimate of Rs 117 crore in the previous year, Mr Chidambaram said while tabling the Budget 2008-09 in the Lok Sabha today.
The sum also covers the travel expenditure and other allowances of cabinet ministers, ministers of state and former prime ministers.
The provision also included the expenditure on salaries, travel, and other establishment related expenditure of the Cabinet Secretariat.
The salaries, travel expenses, office expenses and other establishment related expenditure of the National Security Council Secretariat were also covered.
This allocation also includes the expenses incurred during the visits of State guests and official entertainment programmes at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
