Mumbai, Feb 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Government today appointed Mr A N Roy and Mr Hassan Gafoor as the state's new Director General of Police and Mumbai police commissioner respectively, official sources said.
Mr Roy and Mr Gafoor will succeed Dr P S Pasricha and Mr D N Jadhav respectively, who retired from service today after enjoying a three-month extension.
Mr Roy, who had earlier held the post of Mumbai police commissioner, is at present Director General of Police (Housing) and Mr Gafoor is at present Additional Director General of Police (Anti corruption bureau).
The decision to appoint them to these posts wass taken at a meeting between Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and the Deputy Chief Miinister R R Patil this afternoon, the sources added.
