New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan has urged Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to place the portraits of freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh and Hindi poet Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar in Parliament.

Mr Paswan, in a letter to the Speaker, highlighted Singh's great role in 1827 during the freedom movement.

In another letter, he wrote about Hindi poet Dinkar, who was a three-time member of the Rajya Sabha between April 3, 1952 to January 26, 1964. He was also awarded the Jnanpith Award in 1972 for 'urvashi' and Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi Award in 1959.

The letters stressed the need to installing the protraits of these great personalities in the Parliament House, saying those (portraits) would preserve their memories for posterity as a symbol of respect to them.
