NCP to organise farmers rallies in Mah next month
Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will organise farmers' rallies in Maharashtra next month to highlight the developmental work done in the state by the Union Agriculture Minister and party president Sharad Pawar for farmers.
According to a party release, NCP state president Arun Gujrathi had conducted a meeting of senior party leaders and decided to hold the farmers' rallies, commencing from March 2, at various places in the state. The rallies will be organised at Akola (March 2), Kolhapur (March 4), Nagpur and Jalgaon (March 5), Thane (March 7) and Beed (March 8).
In the rallies, the local party leaders will demand for incentives to sugarcane farmers and for the sugar factory owners in the state from the Central government.
Criticising the Shiv Sena-BJP's stand on the farmers issue and their demand ''either give or exit'' from the government, the party clarified that it had never made the farmers issue a political one, the release added.
