Mangalore, Feb 28 (UNI) Residents of Kalavar, Permude-Bajpe and Thokur villages in this district, whose land were acquired by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) for the proposed Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), staged an agitation in front of the KIADB office here today.
Demanding better compensation and rehabilitation package, they alleged that the KIADB officials had asked the residents to vacate their land/houses within 15-days without making any alternative arrangements.
The protestors warned that they would not vacate their houses/land until they get suitable compensation for their land/property as assured during the acquisition process.
They demanded that the temple and mosque located in Kalavar village should not demolished till the places of worship were relocated to new locales.
