Washington, Feb.28 : U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who is currently on a visit to New Delhi, has said that the Pakistan Government must be wary of holding talks with local Taliban.

Admitting that the results of the February 18 poll had not panned out well for President Pervez Musharraf, Gates was quoted by the Daily Times as saying that the U.S. hoped to continue working with him.

He described Musharraf as the elected president of Pakistan. Gates said a new government would have to face the reality that Al Qaeda militants and insurgents were operating along the frontier.
