Court extends judicial custody of suspected LeT activists
Davangere, Feb 28 (UNI) The Judicial Magistrate First Class Court, Honnali, extended till March 13 the judicial custody of suspected LeT operatives Asadullah Abubaker and Riyazuddin Naser here today.
The police took the duo from from Bellary central jail today, and produced before the the Magistrate, Mr Jinaralkar, who had extended their judicial custody. There had been no request by the police to continue them in police custody.
It was expected that Mumbai and Hyderabad would come, with body warrants, to take into custody the two arrested, in relation to terror related cases in those cities. However, they did not turn up.
After the extension of their custody the duo were immediately taken back to Bellary central jail by the police.
Asadullah of Hospet in the State and Riyazuddin of Hyderabad were nabbed by the district police at Kadakatte village, where they were moving suspiciously on a motorcycle stolen from Goa.
On questioning they had reportedly revealed their connection with the banned terror group and their plans to trigger blasts at religious places, IT company headquarters in Bangalore and at famous beaches in Goa targetting the foreign tourists.
Based on the information of the two, the State police had arrested four more people, including medicos and a software engineer, allegedly involved in the network and connected with banned SIMI organisation.
