Port Blair, Feb 28 (UNI) Port Blair Municipal Council, the lone civic body in entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands, today demanded a Jal Board (water board) for the Islands facing water crisis almost every year.
With the declaration of water curtailment in Port Blair and its adjoining areas, the demand for formation of a Jal Board in the remote Indian Islands is getting stronger.
Every year during peak season of water crisis such demands surface but vanish after arrival of Monsoon. This time it is the Port Blair Municipal Council to raise the demand.
''We need to have a separate Jal Board so that a staff of the board can concentrate and think of mitigating only water crisis throughout the year, without getting diverted for other type of work,'' Chairman, PBMC, R Damodaran told UNI today.
