Trinamool blocks NH at Durgapur, 3 arrested
Durgapur, Feb 27 (UNI) Three agitating Trinamool Congress men were arrested after several of them blocked NH 2 near here today demanding employment in a private construction company.
Officer in-Charge of Durgapur police station Sankha Biswas said the Trinamool activists blocked the road for more than half an hour after which the police resorted to lathicharge.
''However, no one was injured,'' he added.
Trinamool sub-divisional chairperson Prabhat Chatterjee said the members were demanding employment in a private construction company, which had allegedly recruited several CPI(M) members.
''It is an injustice that they are providing jobs only to the ruling party members and not us,'' Mr Chatterjee lamented.
He also alleged that the CPI(M) members had attacked a few Trinamool workers on Monday last, in which three were injured, after supporters of both parties had an altercation over securing jobs at the construction company.
He further threatened to go on a wider agitation if there demands were not fulfilled.
