TN Pharma Council urges Govt to hold fresh council polls
Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu State Pharmacy Council today urged the state government to hold fresh elections to the council as there were alleged irregularities in the polls held on February 25.
The council, in a statement here today, said the polls on February 25 were held amid charges that more than 50 per cent of the 50,000 voters did not receive their ballot papers.
The council alleged that those involved in Pharmacist trade were totally kept out of the polls.
A group had snatched the ballot papers in bunch and had cast the votes.
The council said they had submitted a memorandum to Health Secretary V K Subburaj listing out the irregularities in the polls and urged him to take steps to conduct fresh polls in a free and fair manner.
The Secretary had agreed to look into our demand, the council said.
