Tension in Sangli over 'Jodhaa Akbar'
Sangli, Maharashtra, Feb 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Sangli city today after activists of a local outfit, ''Shivpratisthan'', staged demonstrations against the Hindi film ''Jodhaa Akbar''.
The activists refused to concede to the police request to hold discussions on the issue and went on a rampage and pelted stones.
Few city buses and other vehicles, including a police van, were damaged in the stone pelting. The shop-keepers downed their shutters after the trouble broke out, police said.
''Shivpratisthan'' is headed by Sambhaji Bhide.
The situation in the city, now, was reported to be tense but under control as police security had been beefed up in various parts.
