STB bets big on Indian tourists
Bangalore, Feb 26 (UNI) The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has set a target of one million Indian tourists in two years, from 7.49 lakh recorded last year.
STB Regional Director (South Asia) Siew-Kheng Kang told reporters here today that India was the fourth largest in-bound tourists' market and Indian visitors were big spenders now.
To attact Indians, the STB had started the year with a high-energy 'Uniquely Singapore' trade show in India.
Popular attractions like Islands of Sentosa and Bintan, all time favourites - Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, Singapore Discovery Centre and Singapore DUCKtours were among the many Singapore partners participating at the road show.
Singapore flyer-- a 165 metre high observation wheel-- would be launched in March to offer a breathtaking view of Singapore, and the skyline of Indonesia and Malaysia, she said.
Besides this, a Formula 1 Grand Prix event would be held there on September 28. The event would be the first street race to be held during the night in the Asian Formula 1 history, Ms Kang added.
