Committee to review Cable TV Content Code: Govt

New Delhi, Feb 27: The Government has constituted a committee for reviewing the programme and advertising codes under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995. This committee has prepared the draft content code, which lays down the guidelines for broadcasters regarding the kind of content they can broadcast. The committee would review the programmes and the advertising codes, said Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunsi in a written reply to a question on the reported cases of violation of the general broadcast code.

Dasmunsi said: " The draft of the content code has been placed at the website of the ministry," The ministry has received several reports of broadcast violation by TV channels and actions against broadcasters have been taken as per rules, he added. The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 consists of Rules and Regulations regards to Cable Television Networks in the country and also mentions the procedural laws and punishment of the offences related to Cable Television Networks in the country.
