Rasanda, Vishaka won gold in State Junior Athletic Meet

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Rasanda Chandgure of Pune and Vishakha Upadayay of the city bagged gold on the opening day of Maharashtra State Sub Junior Athletic Championship here today.

The three-day meet, organised by the Mumbai Suburban District Athletic Association(MSDAA) is being held at the Andheri Sports Complex.

Rasanda won the girls under-12 shot put gold with a throw of 8.75 mts while Heeral Ponda of Thane finished second and Vrushali Hatanadi of the metropolis came third.

Meanwhile, Vishakha claimed the girls under-8 long jump gold with an impressive 2.87 mts. Asawari Bhosle of Solapur came second and Manali Gudulkar of Thane finished third.

Among the boys, Pranay Shah of Nashik won the under-14 long jump gold, while Bhavya Jain snatched the under-8 gold.

Ayush Shetty of Thane bagged the under-12 shot put gold with 10.81 mts, pushing Varun Taneja of Thane to the second spot, while Toushish Sheikh finished third.

The meet has attracted over 1600 athletes from 25 districts of Maharashtra.

Results: All Finals: Boys U-14: Long jump: 1. Pranay Shah (Nashik) 5.20 mts; 2. Narendra Karayat (Thane) 5.03 mts; 3. Varun Sane (Mumbai Suburban) 5.01 mts.

Boys U-12: Shot put: 1. Ayush Shetty (Thane) 10.81 mts; 2. Varun Taneja (Thane) 10.15 mts; 3. Toushish Sheikh (Satara) 9.96 mts.

Boys U-8: Long jump: 1. Bhavya Jain (Mumbai City) 3.53 mts; 2. Preet Surve (Thane) 3.30 mts; 3. Jainish Acharya (Mumbai Suburban) 3.21 mts.

Girls U-12: Shot put: 1. Rasanda Chandgure (Pune) 8.75 mts; 2.

Heeral Ponda (Thane) 7.94 mts; 3. Vrushali Hatnadi (Mumbai City) 7.50 mts.

Girls U-8: Long jump: 1. Vishakha Upadhayay (Mumbai Suburban) 2.87 mts; 2. Asawari Bhosle (Solapur) 2.87 mts; 3. Manali Gudulkar (Thane) 2.55 mts.
