Punjab Police officers remanded to CBI custody
Patiala, Feb 27 (UNI) A special court today remanded two senior police officers arrested in connection with the sensational Moga sex scandal case to two days CBI custody.
The CBI had yesterday arrested Devinder Singh Garcha, an IPS officer currently posted as SP, Security wing at the state headquarters here, and Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, who is posted as SP, HQ, Ropar. The two officers were arrested at Chandigarh.
Garcha was SSP of Moga while Sandhu was SP, HQ, Moga during the racket involving call girls, which came to light in April last year after following arrests of two women under the Immoral Trafficking Act.
The two officials were produced in the CBI court here and were remanded to custody for two days. Their questioning is expected to lead to a few more arrests in the next few days, CBI sources said.
The racket involved several prominent people including politicians, businessmen and journalists who were allegedly engaged in ''extortion'' after trapping unsuspecting people.
The CBI team had yesterday also searched the residence of Garcha in Jalandhar and that of Sandhu in Ropar.
