New policy for clearance of airport projects under one roof
Kolkata, Feb 27 (UNI) The Centre is likely to announce next month a new civil aviation policy guideline for speedy clearance of airport projects and related infrastructure under a single window system.
'' We are expecting that a notification for the new policy approach, which is now awaiting Cabinet approval, will be issued in March end rolling out much more simpler rules than the existing ones for allowing new airports,'' Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told reporters today.
Mr Patel, who was here to attend the signing of an agreement for the country's first aerotropolis project at Durgapur, said the proposed guideline had been finalised by a small high level committee, comprising the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister, the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, and himself.
It has put thrust on setting up of multiple airports in bigger cities, if required and creation of such infrastructure wherever necessary.
'' The policy of allowing new airports took a long process, such projects require clearance from several ministries. But now we will take all concerned under one single window for giving the necessary approval,'' Mr Patel said.
