Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh In-Charge M Veerappa Moily today said the party will organise one of the biggest rallies in the country on March 14 on the occasion of AICC President Sonia Gandhi addressing a public meeting at Parade Grounds here.
Addressing the press here after a meeting with the party leaders and Ministers, Mr Moily said Ms Gandhi would address a public meeting after inaugurating the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in the city.
The AICC President would also inaugurate Pushakar Lift Irrigation Project in East Godavari District, visit Devadula Project and conduct an aerial survey of the Polavaram Irrigation Project on the same day.
To a query, Mr Moily said the Telangana issue was in the hands of the AICC President and the leaders would not speak on this matter till Ms Gandhi addressed the public meeting.
They have only discussed the arrangements for Ms Gandhi's visit and farmers problems,he said.
Applauding Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for announcing package to farmers who lost thier crops in the unseasonal rains in some districts, Mr Moily, who visited the affected areas in Guntur and Prakasham Districts and interacted with the ryots this morning, said the Centre would announce a loan waiver package for farmers in the next few days.
''Ms Gandhi has been keen on announcing the package at the earliest. She has also interacted with Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram who will be presenting the Budget on February 29,'' he said adding the affected farmers would be provided employment under National Employment Gurantee Programme (NREGP). The Budget would be for 'Aam Aadmi.' Dr Reddy said another meeting with District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents would be held on March seven to mobilise the public for the meeting.
