Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government Library employees will stage a dharna in front of the Collectorates in the state on February 29 to protest the government's ''apathy'' towards their problems.
Addressing a press conference here today, Andhra Pradesh Zilla Grandhalaya Samsthala Sangham President G Ramarao alleged that the development of libraries had come to a grinding halt due to non-remittance of library cess fund to Library Authority by panchayats, municipalities and corporations.
Mr Ramarao said no grant was made to pay the wages and allowances of the staff for the month of February. Even pension, due for January and February, was not paid to 133 pensioners in the district.
He demanded that the government regularise the service of part time workers in the libraries and accord them Class four employee status.
