New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) A local court today ordered judicial custody of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ravinder Singh, who had allegedly accepted a bribe from Dr Upender, a close friend of Dr Amit, the alleged kingpin in kidney racket case.
Ravinder had allegedly intercepted Dr Upender on January 7 and took him to Connaught Place, the heart of the capital.
While Ravinder posed as an Assistant Commissioner of Police, head constable Devender Singh acted as an Inspector.
They allegedly threatened Dr Upender with arrest, if he did not stay up and let him off only after Dr Kumar handed over Rs 19.85 lakh to the policemen.
It is alleged that constables Vijay Bahadur, Naresh Kumar, Kaleem Beg, Surinder Rathi and Rakesh were also allegedly involved with both officials.
On February 18, a test identification parade was conducted of Dr Upender to identify the ASI, who had taken the bribe to let the accused go scot-free on January 7.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistarte Ajay Kumar Kuhar after hearing the matter ordered the judicial custody of ASI Ravinder Singh for March 12.
