City police collect details on SIMI activities: Commissioner
Bangalore, Feb 27 (UNI) Following arrest of banned SIMI activists for indulging in terrorist activities in the recent days, the city police have started collecting information and exchanging the same with the investigating agency CoD.
Disclosing this to newsmen here, Commissioner of Police Neelam Achutha Rao said that the CoD sleuths are collecting complete data on the activities and networks established by the SIMI in the city and other places of Karnataka.
Mr Rao said that the CoD and state intelligence officials have exchanged their information on the data collected on SIMI networks, and chalking out a strategy to counter the designs of the ultras.
Referring to recent arrests made in a locality in the city, Mr Rao said that "the arrests were also based on the information gathered by the police on the SIMI activists".
Meanwhile, the CoD police have subjected Kerala based Electrical Engineer Mohammed Kamukutty for Brain mapping at the Forensic Science labaratory today. Kamukutty, who was arrested by the CoD last week, has reportedly confessed that he was one of the top SIMI activist operating in Karnataka and had close links with three medicos who were arrested in Hubli recently.
