Cases of violence on women doubled in a yr
Shajapur, MP, Feb 27 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh State Women Commission (MPSWC) said that the state witness twofold increase in the cases of violence against women during last year.
MPSWC member Amita Chapra and Manorama Gaur told mediaperson here yesterday that more than 1,000 such complaints were received in 2006 while in 2007 the figure doubled.
''Even the cases related with domestic violence on women also increased in the state and in order to combat such problems MPSWC will held women awareness camps in the rural areas,'' Ms Chapra added.
