Ahmedabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Footwear and apparel major Woodland today announced that it will open another one hundred exclusive outlets across the country to achieve a growth of 35 per cent to reach its turnover to Rs 500 crore in the next two years.
Addressing mediapersons here, Aero Club (Woodland) Managing Director Harkirat Singh said the branded market has been growing very fast in view of malls concept prevailing in the country.
''In order to meet the demand and achieve growth, we have emphasised to further strengthen our retail network to add another one hundred exclusive outlets in the next two years. The company has currently over 200 outlets, besides a large chain of dealer network,'' he said.
Mr Singh said ''Many leading malls have approached us to provide them cheaper variety of Woodland shoes as the brand is in high demand. However, we had to disappoint them as we could not compromise on the quality that we are maintaining since its inception.'' He said the company had achieved high growth in Gujarat with our existing eight outlets and plans to take it to 30 in the next 12 months. He said exclusive distributors would be appointed to achieve high growth in apparels and the formal footwear in a seperate entity under 'Woods' in the near future.
Consolidating its market share in the apparels segment, the company plans to increase its product range in this segment both for men and women. An array of new products will be launched during the coming season. The latest addition to Woodlands product line is a huge denim range of jeans, jackets and waistcoats.
''To meet the international standard in the footwear, we have sought the assistance from the fashion designers of Italy. We had also imported the new technology machines to increase our daily shoe production from the existing 10,000 to 20,000,'' Mr Singh added.
