Only licensed porters to be considered for ClassIV jobs: CRB
New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Railway Board Chairman K C Jena today clarified that only licensed porters will be considered for appointment as Gangmen or for other Class IV jobs.
''There will be a screening process and only those porters with badges will be considered for appointment,'' Mr Jena said, in reply to a query at a press conference here.
Earlier in the day, celebrations broke out at railway stations across the country with porters dancing with joy after hearing Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's budget announcement, to appoint porters as gangmen and to other Group D posts.
Some of them shouted slogans like ''Lalu Prasad Zindabad'' and ''Jab tak sooraj chand rahega, Lalu tera naam rahega''.
Jaideep Prasada, a porter said,''There had been so many Railway Ministers and so many budget announcement. But none cared for us.
