Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (northern division) to probe into the gang rape of a Sambalpur University student.

The RDC will submit its report within two weeks to the government, Mr Patnaik said after reviewing the incident and the subsequent agitations by the college and university students in the state in protest against the crime.

Director General of Police Gopal Nanda and Director Intelligence Manmohan Praharaj attended the meeting. Already four youths had been nabbed in connection with the gang rape, the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Sambalpur university authorities have declared sine die in the wake of violence and a massive students agitation to protest the alleged gang rape of the first year MCA student.

The University authorities took the decision last night after the agitated students blocked roads and National Highway at different places and ransacked the university's administrative block.

Carrying placards and shouting slogans, the college students in the state capital here also brought out a procession demanding stern action against the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
