CITU terms Rail budget as pro-people; praises Lalu
Kolkata, Feb 26 (UNI) Describing the Railway budget as "pro-people," the Centre of Indian Trade Union Congress(CITU) today waxed eloquent about Railway Minister Laloo Prasad for his announcement to convert unmanned crossings into manned ones.
" The 2008-2009 Railway budget is people-oriented and the credit goes to Mr Prasad alone because he has prepared this budget for the common people. The Congress always makes anti-people budget, CITU state president Shyamal Chakraborty told newspersons here.
" We have been expecting more for our state from this budget. The East-West freight corridor, which Mr Prasad has announced in his budget, is not a new one because it was the Left's earlier demand, " he said.
" We are also welcoming Mr Prasad for his announcement to appoint porters in the unmanned crossings as gangmen and in other Group D posts, " he added.
