Vehicular movement from Sikkim disrupted due to bandh
Gangtok, Feb 25 (UNI) Vehicular movement from Sikkim to neighbouring West Bengal was severely disrupted today following the indefinite bandh called by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in the Darjeeling hills.
Several tourists were left stranded here while others managed to reach Siliguri to catch their trains and planes after convincing the picketers along the NH 31 A, sources said.
'' While majority of the tourists and commuters were allowed to go, we are trying to convince the picketers to allow the rest to go by evening,'' said Sanjay Agarwal, a social worker from Rangpo, the border town of Sikkim said.
