Tiruchirapalli, Feb 25: The Tiruchirapalli District Tiny and Smallscale Industries Association (TIDITSSIA) has welcomed the State Government's policy on micro, small and medium (MSM) industries.

In a statement here today, Association President S Sridharan said the announcement on providing grants for setting up private industrial estate, special capital subsidy for various industrial sectors, back-ended interest subsidy for technology upgradation and modernisation would help small industries to grow in different parts of the state. He said the capital subsidy and subsidies on power tariff, value-added tax, employment and use of environment-friendly technology would promote healthy competition among small industries.

The allocation of 20 per cent of land for MSM in the SIPCOT industrial estate and 30 per cent of land in SIDCO developed industrial estate would greatly help the sector, he added.

Stating that the relaxation in floor space index (FSI) restriction for setting up industries in government industrial estates would help the units to expand, he said the financial support proposed for training programmes conducted by small industries association would encourage first generation entrepreneurs.
