Chandigarh, Feb 25 (UNI) A four-member Central team to finalise the site for setting up the Nano Technology Institute and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Mohali, called on Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal here today.
Union Science and Technology Secretary Dr T Ramasami, who led the team, informed the Chief Minister that the Centre would take all necessary measures to initiate the construction work by May-June.
''The project will take 18 months to complete once the work starts,'' he added.
Interacting with the team, Mr Badal said the Punjab government was committed to impart high quality education to the students in the state, especially in science stream.
He also evinced keen interest to work in tandem with the Department of Science and Technology in focal areas of technical education and science and research education.
Mr Badal assured the visiting team that the state government would extend full support and cooperation to them.
