Set up state reorganisation panel, Cong urges UPA
Bhopal, Feb 25 (UNI) The Congress favoured constitution of a second States Reorganisation Commission and a request in this regard would be put up before the UPA government, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said today.
''Congress was still considering the issue in view of the demands from different corners for the formation of smaller states, including Bundelkhand. The party would request the UPA government to set up second SRC'', Mr Singh told reporters in the Assembly press room.
The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister was responding to newsmen's queries after BSP supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had supported formation of separate Bundelkhand state comprising part of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Telangana issue is also hotting up in Andhra Pradesh with TRS members threatening to withdraw support to the UPA government.
