Bhubaneswar,Feb 25 (UNI) Samrudha Orissa, a newly floated regional political outfit, will launch a statewide padayatra to apprise the people of its plan to remove poverty from the state in five years.
Samrudhna Orissa President Jatish Chandra Mohanty told newspersons here the padayatra would commence from the Dantiamuha panchayat of the Morada block in Mayurbhanj district and cover all the 147 constituencies in 90 days.
During the Padayatra, Mr Mohanty said he and his party activists would interact with people and apprise them of the plan and policies of his party.
He said as per the 1973-74 planning commission report 69 per cent of the people were below poverty line in Orissa while 73 per cent of them were found in West Bengal and 47 per cent in Andhra Pradesh.
But now only 28 per cent of the people were below poverty line in West Bengal and 11 per cent in Andhra Pradesh while in Orissa the figure stood at 47 per cent.
Mr Mohanty said his party planned to change this scenario in five years if voted to power. He said his party would contest in all the 147 seats in the coming elections and would form the government.
Samrudha Orissa,he said, will not have any pre-election alliance with either any national or regional political parties but made it clear that if any political party supported their agenda it would not hesitate to go for any alliance.
