Popularisation of school education in MP

Bhopal, Feb 25 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has carried out popularisation of school education in the state with the objective of promoting technical and higher education.

In his address to the state legislative assembly on the opening day of the 40-day budget session, Governor Balram Jakhar said 1,110 middle schools, 737 high schools and 185 higher secondary schools had been granted approval as a part of popularisation programme.

The government created 196 posts for high schools and 77 posts for higher secondary schools from zero budget. Besides, other 574 posts for high schools and 120 posts for higher secondary schools were created.

Posts for 18,000 school teachers were created. Buildings were approved from all primary schools and approval would be granted for buildings of all middle schools by next year.

'Shikshakarmis' had been included in the cadre of regular teachers. A decision was taken to abolish board examinations for class V and class VIII students to reduce fear of examinations in them.

A scheme to provide bicycles to ST girls taking admission in VIth class has been launched. 'Gaon ki beti' scheme has been extended to include village girls passing class XII with first division.

'Pratibha Kiran' scheme has been started for students belonging to BPL families in urban areas.

The number of technical education and training institutes had been increased from 538 to 644. Industrial Managing Committee has been constituted. A scheme was being chalked out to develop 26 industrial training institutes with people's cooperation.

The government has opened 20 new ashrams, 20 pre-matric hostels and two post-matric hostels in tribal areas.
