PEC students protest delay in fee remittance
Puducherry, Feb 25 (UNI) Students of the Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) today boycotted their classes and took out a procession to the Legislative Assembly to protest against the government's delay in remitting their tuition fees.
The students' fee were being remitted by the administration through the centralised admission committee.
Police, who stopped the procession near the Government General Hospital, later allowed ten representatives to meet Chief Minister N Rangasamy.
The representatives, who met with the Chief Minister, informed him that the PEC management had asked the students to pay the fee before March seven.
Mr Rangasamy has sought a clarification from college principal Palanivel in this regard.
The students called off their agitation following an assurance from the Chief Minister that steps would be taken to ensure that the fee was remitted in time.
