Minority development department's notification issued
Mumbai, Feb 25 (UNI) Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to form a separate Minority development department.
A notification to this effect was issued today.
According to an official release, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had announced about the formation of the department during the winter session of the Legislature in December last year.
The minority development department will be the 30th administrative department in the state government.
The department will look into the recommendations of the Sachar committee report, its implementation and co-ordination. In addition, the department will also look into the Prime Minister's 15 point programme for minorities, various minority-related academies, and will issue no objection certificates to their educational institutions.
