Mahindra Worldcity's SEZs in Rajasthan get Govt nod

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) A unit of Mahindra Worldcity's proposal to set up two special economic zones for manufacturing handicrafts and light engineering goods in Jaipur today got formal approval of the Central government.

The board of approval of SEZs headed by Commerce Secretary G K Pillai also formally approved the proposal of Videcon Realty and Infrastructure Ltd to set up a tax-free zone in information technology and IT-enabled services, including electronic hardware, in Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

With the approval of 10 SEZs today by the board, the Central government has so far given formal approvals for setting up 439 SEZs in the country. Of these, 201 have been notified and Rs 67,347 crore invested in them, Commerce and Industry ministry said in a statement, adding it has generated direct employment for 97,478 people.

Mahindra Worldcity(Jaipur)Ltd will set up handicrafts SEZ on 103 hectares of land, while its light engineering zone will come up over 104 hectares of land. Both projects will be set up in the Rajasthan capital.

J B SEZ Pvt Ltd's proposal to set up a pharma SEZ on 130 hectares of land at Panoli Industrial Estate at Panoili in Gujarat was also formally approved by the board.

Wardha Power Company Pvt Ltd has got the government's nod for setting up a power utility on over 102 hectares of land in Chanderpur district of Maharashtra.

State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, which got the go-ahead for setting up an SEZ on 103 hectares of land for manfucutring all types of tyres in Tirunelveli taluk, also got formal approval for setting up a facility for manufacturing automobile parts, ancillary and support services, including trading and logistic activities, in Thiruvannamalai.

Madhya Pradesh Udyogik Vikas Kendra's decision to set up mineral and mineral-based products' SEZ in Jabalpur district on 101 hectares of land has also been approved by the board.

Anant Raj Industries' 10-hectare project for setting up an IT/ITeS SEZ at Sonepat in Haryana and of Devbhumi Realtors to also establish a similar SEZ in Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh also got BoA's nod, the statement added.
