Kolkata Tea Market registers good demand
Kolkata, Feb 25 (UNI) The tea auction, held here from February 18-19, registered good demand with the CTC, Darjeeling, Orthodox and Dust varieties of tea being on sale.
A Kolkata Brokers' Joint Statistics department release issued here today stated that 9,33,195 kgs CTC tea were auctioned in which Major Blender did selective buying and western India operated on selected better sorts while good enquiry was received from other internal and local buyers.
Similarly, 32,259 kgs Darjeeling tea were auctioned in which limited quantity of whole leaf, brokens and fannings were auctioned.
About 1,21,454 kgs Orthodox tea were auctioned in which stalk free reprint teas were well appreciated and North India buyers and local dealers were active on border whole leaf. It also received fair enquiry from Middle East and CIS buyers.
About 4,59,894 kgs Dust tea were auctioned in which selected blacker and cleaner teas sold well. Major Blender lended good support while Tata Tea did selective buying.
