Kerala HC warns Govt officials in contempt proceedings
Kochi, Feb 25 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the State Chief Secretary to inform all Government officers about the necessity of complying with the directions of the court.
Justice S Sirijagan observed that failure to comply with the court directions would amount to a breakdown of the constitutional machinery.
He also observed that if this condition (of court directions not being complied with) continues, the court would be forced to direct personal appearance of Government officials who were made respondents in contempt cases.
The expense for such appearances could not be from the public exchequer, the court said, while considering a batch of contempt petitions.
