Thane, Feb 25 (UNI) About 25,000 villagers from all over the district participated in a protest 'morcha' (rally) organised by the BJP at the office of the additional collector at Jawhar today to draw the attention of the government towards the apathy of the farmers in the state.
The morcha was led by senior BJP leaders including Gopinath Munde, Vinod Tawde, Bhai Girkar and Mahila Front chief Maneesha Chowdhary, besides local leaders such as Chintaman wanga, Vishnu Sawra, Jagannath Patil and Sanjay Kelkar.
The morcha was also meant to draw the attention of the government towards water shortage, shortage of power supply, deterioration in law and order situation among others.
A delegation of the leaders met the District Collectorate officials and submitted a memorandum of their demands and demanded immediate action.
