Badal urges PM to name Nanded airport after Guru Gobind Singh
Chandigarh, Feb 25 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to name the proposed airport at Nanded in Maharashtra after Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru.
According to Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr Harcharan Bains, Mr Badal handed over a written request on behalf of ''the people of Nanded and all Punjabis and Sikhs'' to the Prime Minister during a meeting at New Delhi today.
''This will be a token of respect and reverence to the Guru'', the request letter stated.
Mr Badal thanked the Prime Minister for the Central Government's decision to set up an airport at Nanded.
This decision of the Government coincides with the historic occasion of the tercentenary celebrations of Gurta-Gaddi to be observed at Gurudwara Sachkhand Sahib at Nanded in October this year. This involves the remembrance of the 300th year of the consecration of Guru Granth Sahib.
