Usha Uthup irked by CPI(M) leader's remarks
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 24 (UNI) Noted pop singer Usha Uthup today took serious exception to CPI(M) Kerala Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's remarks about her during a recent public meeting at Kottayam.
Talking to reporters after a private function here, she said a responsible political leader like Mr Vijayan should not make such remarks during a party meeting. ''It is quite unfortunate to hear such remarks against her from social leaders like him. Mr Vijayan is not only a political leader, but also a social leader,'' she said.
''May be Mr Vijayan remarked it casually, but it hurt me as well as thousands of my fans,'' Usha said and added that it was an insult to all the women of the country.
Stating that she did not want to politicise the issue as she was not interested in any political party, she said ''I don't know the colour of any party.'' Mr Vijayan's admonition of his party workers after they went berserk during a public meeting at Kottayam last week, stating that it was not Usha Uthup's programme but a meeting of Communists that had irked the singer.
