With the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry set to become a 60 billion dollar industry in India by 2010, he said there was a need to fine-tune the products of engineering colleges to adapt themselves to the industry's requirements.
Barely 30 per cent of the engineering graduates are employable by the BPO industry. The rest need training before they could be employed.
He said many companies were offering training to recruited engineering graduates in their company premises. The need for IT finishing schools in the country had assumed significance in view of the inadequate employability of engineering graduates.
He said the STPI would start an incubation centre at the premises to provide office space, complete with infrastructure.
