Bangalore, Feb 24 (UNI) Six police personnel, including a woman head constable, were suspended for subjecting three juvenil boys to third degree torture while in detention in a city police station.

Police Commissioner Neelam Achyuta Rao yesterday ordered suspension of a Circle inspector, a sub-inspector, an ASI, the woman head constable and two other cosntables.

The suspension came after State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice S R Nayak took serious note of the incident, issued notices and initiated action against the ruthless police personnel.

The three minors were detained by Hanumanthnagar police station on February eight, on charges of committing theft and were subjected to electric shocks and other third degree methods, it was alleged.

In protest against the police torture several NGOs staged demonstration and demanded action against the erring police officials.

The suspected included the inspector of the police station Dharmesh, Sub-inspector M R Lava, ASI Shivanna, Head Constable Renuka and constables Ramesh and Lakshmana.

The boys who have allegedly received brutal treatment inside the police station had been sent to juvenile home.
