Gorakhpur, Feb 24 (UNI) Police have so far failed to nail down people responsible for the attack on former Uttar Pradesh minister Hari Shankar Tiwari.
Police Superintendent (city) D K Chaudhary said the case was being investigated and the quilty would be not be spared.
Some masked men had fired at the vehicle of Mr Tiwari near village Bargadwa under Chiluataal police station area yesterday.
Three people, including Mr Tiwari's gunner, were wounded in the attack.
The incident occurred, when the Former Minister was returning after attending a function in Pharendra town of Maharajganj district.
When his fleet reached Bargadwa village, the driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle hit two people, following which, there was a heated exchange between Mr Tiwari's supporters and the villagers.
The situation tuned worse, when Mr Tiwari's gunner fired in the air to disperse the mob, which resorted to stone pelting after the incident.
All of a sudden, few unidentified people opened fire at the vehicle, ferrying the ex-minister.
Mr Tiwari, however, was left unhurt, police said.
An FIR was lodged in Gorakhnath police station, they said.
