PCB finalises charge sheet against Shoaib Akhtar

By Staff

Karachi, Feb.24 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly finalised a charge-sheet against the enigmatic fast bowler and its disciplinary committee is expected to announce its verdict on the player's future in the sport next week.

The Pakistan cricket team that is getting ready to take on Australia and possibly India in a Test and one-day series respectively at home later this spring.

The team's under-strength bowling attack is likely to get a much needed boost with the return from injury of pace duo Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul.

It may be recalled that Asif aggravated an elbow injury in the October home series against South Africa, while Gul has been suffering from a chronic back problem.

Chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said on Saturday that he has received 'positive reports' about both bowlers.

"We are hearing positive reports about both Asif and Gul and will love to have them in the bowling attack," he told 'The News'.

"We have been a bit unfortunate in recent months because some of our frontline bowlers were injured. But now we will be getting back soon and that is great news considering the fact that Pakistan will be playing against top teams like Australia and India," he said.
