Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 (UNI) The Orissa Nursing Employees Association (ONEA) today threatened to start a series of agitations from March 15 and cease work from April two if their eleven-point charter of demands was not met by then.
ONEA general secretary Pravati Mohanty told newspersons here that the members of the association would stage a mass dharna on March 15 and a mass rally on March 25 at Bhubaneswar in support of their demands before ceasinng the work on April two.
Ms Mohanty said the association took the extreme step as the government was not paying any heed to their persistent demands for more than a decade now.
The demands included regularisation of contractual and adhoc staff nurse, recruitment of staff nurse from the panel on seniority basis as was the practice in the past and salary at par with the Junior Engineers.
The association also demanded to stop contractual and adhoc appointments as it violated the prevailing service rules.
Creation of new posts, promotion, dress allowances, allotment of quarter, special allowances for posting in KBK districts and adequate round the clock security to the nurses on duty were the other demands of the association.
