Municipal corporations to be strengthened: AP CM
Hydeabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government had decided to strengthen the municipal corporations to serve the urban population in an efficient manner.
In a meeting with the Mayors of 11 muncipal corporations led by Mayors Forum Convenor P Ravindranath Reddy here, Dr Reddy assured the Mayors that their problems would be solved soon.
He directed the officials of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) to sort out their issues within three months.
He also directed them to release funds towards the payment of salaries to staff of small corporations and municipalities.
The mayors thanked the Chief Minister for allocating more funds under JNNURM and UIDSSMT and for agreeing to provide upto Rs 10 crore each as grant to corporations and municipalities.
