Jaya's b'day celebration marks welfare assistance to poor
Puducherry,Feb 24 (UNI) Religious prayers, distribution of sweets and welfare assistance to the poor marked the 60th birthday celebrations of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa in the Union Territory today.
Led by AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA, the party men hoisted the party flag at the party headquarters at Ouppalam and garlanded the MGR statue besides distributing sweets.
Later, they organised special poojas at different places of worship including the famous Manakklua Vinayagar temple where they pulled the golden chariot. They also offered worship at different churches and mosques on the occasion.
Clothings, cycle rickshawas, push carts, grinders, sewing machines, tricycles among others were distributed to a large number of people at the party head quarter to mark the occasion.
Mr Om Sakthi Segar, party Legislator, organised a day long feast in his Nellithoppe constituency to mark the occasion, while the day was being celebrated in all the constituencies separately by the constituency office bearers.
The party would organise a public meeting here tonight in which former Tamil Nadu Minister Madhusudanan would address the gathering.
