Govt allocates Rs 641 crore for Adi Dravidar Welfare Dept
Perambalur, Feb 24 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has allocated Rs 641 crore in the current year to the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department to implement welfare and development schemes. Out of this, 72 per cent was meant for education, according to Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida and Tribal Welfare Minister A Tamilarasi.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, she said the pass percentage of Adi Dravidar students in SSLC and Plus Two examinations had increased following the initiative taken by the department.
The teachers of Adi Dravidar schools had been advised to take steps to further increase the pass percentage of the students,she added.
The government had also sanctioned Rs 25 crore for imparting industrial training to Adi Dravidar youth across the State. Steps were taken to provide reading material, besides special coaching classes for 148 candidates, who had cleared the Civil Services preliminary examination, enabling them to prepare for the main examination, she added.
