Five arrested with fake passports

Chennai, Feb 24: Five people were arrested in three separate incidents at the Anna International Airport here on Feb 24 for travelling with fake documents. Airport sources said three people, who arrived here from Malaysia with fake passports, were arrested by the immigration authorities.

During interrogation, the trio - Pandiarajan (34) from Madurai, Dinesh Kumar (26) from Namakkal and Rajasekaran (33) from Dindugul - admitted that their travel agents who had taken them for work in Malaysia had duped them by taking their passports. They said they managed to get fake Malaysian passports to return to India. They were arrested and handed over to the Airport police.

In another incident, Mottaiyan (35) from Villuppuram was arrested when he tried to board a Sri Lankan Airlines flight to Malaysia via Colombo with forged documents. Immigration authorities found that though the passport was genuine, the immigration seal was fake. He was arrested and handed over to the Airport police, who, in turn, handed him over to the Central Crime Branch police.

In another incident, Saravana Perumal (35) from Tiruchirapalli was arrested when he arrived here from Malaysia via Colombo with a fake passport.
